The smiles on everyone’s faces made the fishing along the private, pristine waters of South Boulder Creek even more beautiful. Our Sept. 6, outing was especially well attended, drawing participants from Ft. Carson’s Solider Recovery Unit; the VA Hospital; Craig Hospital and its treatment program designed for military vets, Operation TBI Freedom.
On this particular day, most of our group was new to fly fishing — so we started with the fundamentals, explained by our expert guides from Front Range Anglers. After the instruction, everyone received gear, paired up and headed out with a guide for a fun morning of landing and releasing trout. Afterwards, everyone convened for a hearty pasta lunch from Gondolier Italian Eatery — and plenty of fish tales were swapped.
Our thanks to the Lincoln Hills Fly Fishing Club, Front Range Anglers, Gondolier and all of the volunteers who helped us make this event possible. And, as always, special thanks to our nonprofit partner, the River Deep Foundation, which assists us with event coordination.
