If we do say so ourselves, Anglers of Honor is an outstanding nonprofit deserving robust support on Colorado Gives Day 2025 because it promotes healing through therapeutic fly fishing experiences for military veterans, active-duty service members, and individuals with physical disabilities, including spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries, along with their families.
Based in Lakewood, Colorado, our 501(c)(3) organization operates with no full-time staff, relying entirely on dedicated volunteers and partners like the River Deep Foundation and Lincoln Hills Fly Fishing Club, to host outings on premier, accessible private waters restored specifically for those with mobility challenges.
What sets Anglers of Honor apart is our positive impact on the mental and physical wellness of those we serve. Our participants learn fly fishing basics from professional guides, then apply them in serene settings, fostering reconnection with nature, family and community — which is crucial for combating isolation, PTSD, anxiety and depression. Testimonials highlight life-changing moments: one veteran with TBI and PTSD laughed carefree after an outing, a rarity; others report reduced anxiety and newfound confidence.
Since our inception, we have guided more than 1,000 veterans with hundreds of people participating each year in our seasonal events stretching from May through October. Our volunteers and generous donors provide transportation, equipment, meals and expert fishing instruction. Every donation goes directly to programs, maximizing the impact of our volunteer-driven model. Supporting Anglers of Honor honors service members’ sacrifices while promotiing recovery and hope. Early giving already is underway at ColoradoGives.org, where donations through Dec. 9 amplify via a $1 million+ Incentive Fund — so please give today to boost our mission and cause.
